Upcoming: Q&A with The Richards Group

Instead of hearing from my boring self all the time, I'd like to invite you to ask questions to successful advertising pros. Just leave your question as a comment in this post and I'll post their answers in a future post.

The Richards Group is the largest ad agency in Dallas with scores of regional and national clients (Chick-fil-a, Home Depot and others). UT alums Mike Renfro, Group Creative Director, and Tina Johnson, Creative Director, are willing and ready to answer any type of question you may have.

I heard Dallas is a very conservative market hence the lack of industry awards and recognition. Is this assessment fair?

Can you hook me up with some free Chick-Fil-A?

Hi. If you guys ever need a great creative in Spanish. Contact me chitocardenas@mac.com, I worked and lived in Dallas for 7 years until recently. Now I am in Madrid offering freelancing services.
Also, one my questions: How do you feel about working with the multi-cultural market growing within the U.S. melting pot phenomena. Should General Market agencies jump on it or let the Specialized ad agencies do the job??? Is it a case by case basis? What do your clients think?

My digital media class is working to improve AdGrad. If you have yet to hear of the website, it is a social networking site devoted to the University of Texas's Advertising grads. I would love to know what would help make it more appealing to alumni. This can include anything from functionality to appearance concerns. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Michelle Matranga

How can a mid-career changer break into the advertising industry, particularly interactive?

How well is the interactive department integrated into the company? Also, how large is the interactive team?

Thanks!

1. what's the culture at The Richards Group like?

2. Can you briefly talk about your careers? Lessons learned, amount of sleep lost, mistakes made...

Hello!

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post. I deeply appreciate it. When I saw the opportunity to ask you a question, I knew I could not pass up this great opportunity to learn.

Once I graduate college, I intend on working for an advertising agency as a copywriter, and eventually found the world's premier advertising firm. However, I realize I still have a long way to go.

My questions for you are these:

How did you get your start? What opportunity did you seize that started you on the path towards self-actualization in your career?

What do you believe is the most important thing for students to do, while in school, to prepare them for real-world copywriting?

And finally, where do you go for your best creative inspiration? Is there a certain place, or kind of place where you find the most inspiration for your work?

Thank you again for this incredible opportunity to ask you questions. I hope you have a wonderful day!

God bless

Ryan Drumwright
